The following By-Laws are made by the Racket Games Sub-Committee
pertaining to the game of tennis under Rule 24 of the Club Constitution
for the purpose of regulating the playing of tennis at Kelab
Golf Sarawak.
BY-LAWS
1. Definition
“Club” means Kelab Golf Sarawak
“Committee” means the Racket Games Sub-Committee
of Kelab Golf Sarawak.
2. Who May Play
(a) All members of the Club under Rule 7 of the Club Constitution.
(b) Members’ Guest: Subject to Rule 16 of the Club Constitution
and the Tennis By- Laws
3. When to Play
The Courts are available to all members during the following
sessions:
(a) Open Day Sessions
(b) Booking Sessions
4. Open Day Sessions
(a) Open Day Sessions are:

(b) Rules for Open Day Sessions:
(i) ‘Open Day Sessions’ are strictly for club
members only.
(ii) Players are required to ‘Register’ their
turn to play on their preferred court by writing their name
and membership number in order of sequence on the white board
attached to each court.
(iii) First to Register, First to Play provided that when
it is a player’s turn to play and he is not to be seen
around that court, his turn shall be forfeited.
(iv) A player can only register his turn of play in one
court at any one time.
(v) A turn of play shall include a warm up time of not more
than 5 minutes upon entering the court and a match of one
set of 6 games which may include a tie break of 7 points in
the event of a draw.
(v) A player may register for another turn of play after
completing his match.
(vii) All the players must stop playing and leave the courts
at 7.00 p.m. when the time signal is given unless the session
is continued as a booking session where appropriate fees will
be charged.
5. Booking Sessions
(a) Booking sessions commence daily from 4.00 p.m. (for Courts
3 & 4) and from 7.00 p.m. (for all courts) on an hourly
basis until 10.00 p.m.
(b) Rules for Booking Sessions:
(i) Members may book any one court on an hourly basis from
4.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. (without floodlights switched on) at
RM4.00 per hour per court.
Booking of court from 7.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. (with floodlights)
will be charged at RM10.00 per hour per court.
(ii) A booking member must be present on the court during
the session booked by him.
(iii) Booking may be made in advance at KGS Reception Counter
or at KGS Rackets Sports Counter. Booking is deemed confirmed
upon the member entering his name, membership number, the
time and court booked and signature in the Booking Register.
Cancellation of any booking must be done at least one (1)
day before the scheduled booking session.
Failure to show-up for the booked time or cancellation on
the day of play will incur a penalty of RM10.00 in addition
to the booking fees charged. Repeated offences will result
in the withdrawal of booking rights of the member concerned.
(iv) A member who has booked the court must claim it by
occupying the court on time, and must leave the court at the
end of the hour irrespective of whether the match is finished
or not. He may however extend the booking hour which shall
be subjected to availability of the court.
(v) Booking will be automatically cancelled under the following
situations: -
(a) If there is club approved competition infringing into
booking time.
(b) Adverse weather and the court unplayable.
(c) Court closed for repair work.
6. Family Members
Family Members are permitted to use the courts during Open
Day Sessions but shall give precedence to principal members
at all times unless they are registered under special programme
approved by the Committee.
7. Guests
Registered Guests are allowed to play during Booking Sessions
only by invitation of the members in accordance to Rule 16 of
the Club Constitution. Each member is allowed to bring in not
more than three (3) registered guests.
Each Registered Guest shall be charged RM5.00 per hour. The
charges for Registered Guest shall be debited to the account
of the member inviting the said guest.
Note: The Registered Guest charges shall be in addition to
the booking fee stipulated in Rule 5(b) (i) above.
8. Prohibitions
(a) No animals allowed within the fence of the courts.
(b) No food to be brought into the courts.
(c) No littering in and around the courts.
(d) No liquor allowed in the courts.
9. Attire and Equipment
(a) Sports attire appropriate to the game of tennis shall
be used.
(b) Only tennis shoes with rubberised soles are allowed on the
courts. Boots and shoes with leather soles are strictly prohibited.
10. Competitions
The Committee reserves the right to book the courts for the
purpose of holding competitions and friendly matches between
the Club and other organisations, and other tennis-related activities
as the Committee may think fit.
11. Championships
Subject to the approval of the KGS Management Committee, the
tennis courts may be used for the State Level or Inter State
Level Championships or any other competitions approved by the
Committee.
12. Discipline
Disciplinary actions will be taken against those who breach
any of the above By- Laws in accordance with Rule 28 of the
Club Constitution.
13. Amendment to the By-Laws
The Committee reserves the right to amend any of the above
By-Laws from time to time as it deems fit. Such amendments shall
be conveyed to the members through posting on the Club Notice
Board.
